pete and lou hit town

Check out these two ladies - the Henderson boys haven’t done too badly have we!

Pete and Lou came over for their Easter break. We had a great weekend wandering around the tourist sites and took in the mandatory trip to Buddha Bar.

I think they were pretty impressed with the Lavra although they didn’t spend too much time down in the catacombs - a place under the Lavra that houses centuries old mummies of saints gone by. A pretty powerful place as it was the origins of christianity in Eastern Europe.

Buddha was again amazing, although not cheap, the food is stunning and the wine and cocktails equally top notch. I love the place and for guests its a real gem for Kiev. Its the only place I have found that would compete with restaurants in Sydney.

We also went out to Piragova, the museum of architecture of Ukraine. Its a rambling area with examples of traditional buildings and churches. We had good weather so it was great to take the drive there and wander around for a bit. It also gave the guys a picture of Kiev as we went out of the centre and showed them the apartment blocks and ex-Soviet housing that still exists. Its pretty depressing to look at but is more representative.

So a top weekend, and great to see Pete and Lou again. Only my second visitors, so the rest of you are running out of time!! (check the countdown on the front page)...

.. also have a look at the pics in the photo album.
